What kind of food does Morels serve?

Authentic Wisconsin cuisine using local ingredients whenever possible. In addition, there is a traditional Friday premium cod fish fry and Saturday prime rib signature dish. There are always fresh seafood features and house-made desserts. See MENU on this website.

Do you take special request for food allergies?

Our chefs are prepared to alter food for a wide variety of allergies. It would be preferable if you called in advance with any special request. All food is made to order so almost all requests can be accommodated.

Do you have gift certificates?

Yes - for any amount? You may pick them up anytime during business hours or by calling 608-836-7151 and purchasing with a credit card. Gift certificates are mailed within 24 hours.

Who owns Morels?

It is a family business. Mark Valaskey and his wife, Laurie Bragg-Valaskey, are the primary owners along with Mark's parents, Van and Judy Valaskey.

Are there long lines following Badger events?

Morels has a beautiful large bar and dining area so it is generally not a problem. You can guarantee that there will be no lines for your party by calling 608-836-7151 for a reservation. Bring your ticket stubs from any badger event and receive a complimentary house-made dessert of your choice with your dinner order.

When does the last seating for dining occur?

On Friday and Saturday at 9:00 PM and weekdays at 8:45 PM. We are open later than this, we simply ask that you are here and seated by these times.

What is the corkage fee for bringing in beverages?

We have an extensive wine and beverage list in all price ranges for you to select from; however, you may bring in your own special wine that is not on our list for a $16 corkage fee.

Is there a dress code?

Casual to dressy; we want you to be comfortable and enjoy your evening with us, whether its a special anniversary celebration or dinner after a Badger game.

Can large groups order off the menu?

Groups 25 and smaller may order off the menu. For groups larger than 25, call 608-836-7151 and ask for Kate Burmeister.

Can groups for 8 or more have separate checks?

We are happy to accommodate separate check request, however, we would prefer to know at the time of the reservation so we can better serve you.

Is there a gratuity added to groups of 8 or more?

There will be an 18% gratuity added, unless a larger amount is requested.

Are children allowed?

We love to see families dine with us as long as the children are always seated at the table with the family. You may want to call ahead with special request for either high chairs or booster chairs. There is a special children's menu. Morels is a spacious restaurant which most families find more comfortable with young children. There is also a "museum" of animals in our bar area that many children enjoy seeing.

How long has Morels been in existence?

Morels was previously known as the Chalet St. Moritz. It was purchased from Karl and Hellen Hoffman in 1997 and was renamed Morels shortly thereafter by the present owners. The cuisine was then changed from a Swiss theme to a Wisconsin theme.

Are you closed on Holidays?

Morels is closed on Christmas eve, Christmas day, New Year's day and Thanksgiving.

Who do I call if I want to have a wedding reception or rehearsal dinner?

Call 608-836-7151 and ask for Kate Burmeister. She will help you plan your food and bar menu and can also make suggestions for music, flowers, and a cake. There is also a chapel on the grounds that can seat about 60 people.

Is Smoking Allowed?

We do have a designated smoking area for diners. This area is very well ventilated and there is no carry over into the non-smoking area.

Can an entrée be divided between two people?

Generous portions are served at Morels. We will gladly box leftovers so that you may enjoy the rest of your meal at home, however, for a plating fee of $5 we will divide the entrée of non-specials onto two plates. You may also want to try our fixed price menu, if they are available during the week, which have slightly smaller portions.

Where is Morels?

Morels is located on 19 beautiful acres between Middleton and Cross Plains. It is about a 5 minute drive from the beltline on Airport Road. See MAP on this website.
